WEEK 4 (14/3 - 20/3)

In week 4, the previous task which is project background, problem statement and objective were presented to Ts. Dr. Izanoordina.

I presented the project background with a few of statistics regarding the demands of agriculture in Malaysia and a brief of devices and components that will be used in this project. For example:

"The production of vegetables in Malaysia showed an increase of 0.9 per cent in 2020 with Pahang remained the highest producer with a contribution of 35.1 per cent, followed by Johor (20.2%) and Kelantan (12.5%). Meanwhile, fruit production decreased by 0.7 per cent during the same period. Johor was the highest producer state of fruit in Malaysia with a contribution of 36.0 per cent, followed by Pahang (13.0%) and Sarawak (11.2%)"

The problem statement are derive from a few research on past research papers and journal in research gate. Therefore, the problem statements for my project are time costing, high human resources and no real-time data on crops condition.

For the objective, I proceed as the same with my FYP title registration:

  1. To design an IoT based fertigation system in agriculture industry.
  2. To develop the prototype of IoT based fertigation system that will allow the farmers to monitor and control crops conditions in parameters such as pH soil, and soil moisture.
  3. To test and evaluate the performance of system by meeting the expected target of the measured parameters.

Ts. Dr. Izanoordina approved the project background, problem statement and objective. The task given next are scopes of project, limitation of project and synopsis of project.

WEEK 5 (21/3 - 27/3)

In week 5, I presented the scoped of project, limitation of project and synopsis of the project. The scope of this project is to create a system where the system will the collect data of the fruits’ crops, which are eggplant, lady finger and cucumber. As for the limitation, since the project is a collaboration with Agrovoltec, the farm are 2 hectare and above. Therefore the main limitation of this project is the lack of the internet connectivity of the certain area made it more challenging.   The synopsis are same as the FYP title registration, which is: "IoT based fertigation system is a type of irrigation system that is mixed with water-soluble fertilizers and distributed evenly through irrigation system by drip method. The system will be integrated with IoT (Internet of Things), where the parameters of crops will be monitored and controlled from websites via sensors, microcontroller, valve, and pumps. The system will automatically execute the output, where t...

WEEK 7 (4/4 - 10/4)

On week 7, I updated all the findings in excel workbook including from week 6 work. These are the findings that I presented: 9 Effect of fertigation with potassium and nitrogen on gas exchange and biomass accumulation in eggplant Álvaro Henrique Cândido de Souza, Roberto Rezende, Marcelo Zolin Lorenzoni, Fernando André Silva Santos, André Maller To evaluate the effect of fertigation with K and N on gas exchange and biomass accumulation, in eggplant cultivated under greenhouse conditions. For eggplant cultivation, the ideal temperature is 20-35 ºC (Ribeiro 2007). in a factorial scheme with four doses of N (0 kg ha-1, 67 kg ha-1, 134 kg ha-1 and 268 kg ha-1) and four doses of K (0 kg ha-1, 54 kg ha-1, 108 kg ha-1 and 216 kg ha-1), with four replicates, totaling 64 experimental units. The unit was represented by a pot with volumetric capacity of 25 L. Pots were filled with soil classified as Dystrophic Red Latosol (Oxis...

WEEK 14 (30/5 - 5/6)

On week 14, I have purchased the TTGO ESP32 board and manage to complete the proposal to be submit. The board are expected to arrive on 15 June 2022 the earliest date. The other component are put on hold since it is always restock.
